Governor Granholm to Receive "Spirit of Millie Award" At Justice Caucus Convention Program Saturday, August 28th

"Governor Granholm's Judiciary. The New Face of Justice in Michigan.”

Governor Jennifer Granholm will receive a special "Spirit of Millie Award" from the Justice Caucus honoring her contribution to Michigan's judiciary via judicial appointments. She will speak on "My Vision of Justice.” During her 7-1/2 years in office, Governor Granholm's judicial appointments, 118 to date, have restored a significant measure of justice and fairness to our courts.

The award and the governor's address will be part of the Justice Caucus MDP Convention Program on Saturday, August 28th at 10:00 am in Cobo Hall Room O3-46. All of Gov. Granholm's 118 judicial appointees have been invited and many will be attending.

We will celebrate the gifts of justice Governor Granholm and the many judges she appointed bring to the People of Michigan every day.  So, we ask you to join us in saluting Governor Granholm at our program titled "Governor Granholm's Judiciary: The New Face of Justice in Michigan."

We will honor the Governor with a special “Spirit of Millie” Award. This award is named in honor of our friend and former Board Member, the late Millie Jeffrey.  In addition, we are inviting all her judicial appointees to join and be recognized at this celebration.

Organized in 1999, the Justice Caucus is Michigan’s grassroots progressive democratic caucus with over 2000 members statewide. We are the largest caucus in the MDP not affiliated with a labor organization. Our members have long had a particular interest in the quality of justice in, and access to, our courts.  It is appropriate we present this salute at this time of her tenure.

We anticipate that the introduction, the “Spirit of Millie” Award presentation, the Governor's speech and recognition of appointed judges will take about 35 minutes.   The salute will be followed by a Justice Caucus grassroots training for members on how to inform voters about the need for change in Michigan’s Supreme Court.
Please join us.  Several hundred people usually attend our convention programs. It will be fun, an opportunity to reflect and an occasion to celebrate.
